What You See vs. What God Says
stepping out of fear, stomping anxiety
Do you see how relaxed this sweet baby is? He has no fear. I know this is part of what God meant by childlike faith. Utterly dependent but not worried - AT ALL.
Did you know that the Bible says “Do not fear” or “fear not” 365 times? It’s almost like God knew we would need that reminder every day of the year. Oh wait… He did. 😜
I’ve been talking to a lot of women (here and elsewhere) lately who are feeling afraid. And I get it. This world’s state can be scary sometimes. It’s EASY to feel fearful. But, God hasn’t given us that spirit. Because of HIM, we don’t have to LIVE in that state.
Listen, I don’t blame you if you’re living there though. I can’t. Because I’ve been on a long journey to overcome fear, to be brave in spite of it, and I know God is not even finished with me yet. I KNOW what it’s like to fear in a very real way, especially the fear of a future you cannot know. I remember… when my late husband was diagnosed with cancer, when I found myself pregnant immediately after a miscarriage, when I decided to move cross country as a widow with a 2-year-old… when I thought God was giving me the green light to fall in love again. I always had to choose. Am I going to move forward in confidence because of WHAT GOD SAYS? Or… am I going to stay scared because of WHAT I SEE?
There’s always going to be a push & pull.
What God Says vs. What You See.
Who will win in your heart? Will you put more value on what you see? Will you stay scared or stuck because of the things you fear? Or will you listen to and grasp hold of the invisible? Will you bet on what God says?
I don’t know what’s going on in your life right now. I don’t know if you’re fearing a virus or health crisis. Or if you’re fearing the future or a past that could haunt. If you’re already fearing the start of another school year or the end of a life stage. But, whatever the case…
You were not given a spirit of fear. You are a child of the King of the universe. And He is on your side. He knows you… (and, mamas, He knows your children). He put you (and THEM) here for such a time as this.
Do not fear. You are NEVER alone. ✨
